| Parents
Plus was established in 1995 as a statewide Parent Information
and Resource Center (PIRC) to bring parental education
and assistance to families and promote stronger school-family
partnerships as a means to increase the academic achievement
of Wisconsin's children.
In August of 2005, Parents Plus became a 501 (c) (3) non-profit
organization that receives government and foundation grants.
The mission of Parents Plus is to educate, train, and support parents,
educators, service providers, and community members throughout Wisconsin
to strengthen families, promote student success, and achieve optimal
childhood outcomes.
The vision of Parents Plus is strong and healthy children, families,
schools and communities in Wisconsin.
We believe that:
v Families are
the foundation of a strong and healthy community and have the
right and ability to make informed decisions.
v
Children
have the greatest chance for positive outcomes when families
remain intact and both parents
are involved.
v Parents
are their child's first and most significant teacher and
family involvement in education begins at birth and continues
through adulthood.
v Programs
and services will be of the highest standards of quality and
will be provided in a culturally respectful and competent manner.
v Employees
will maintain the highest standard of ethics and professionalism
and will respect the inherent worth and dignity of others.
v Everyone deserves
the same opportunities to succeed. |
